    KP launches Rs20bn Solar Project to Power 130,000 Homes for Free

    In the first phase, the government will provide free solar panels, batteries, fans, and lights to 32,500 households. This will done through an electronic ballot, prioritizing vulnerable groups.

    The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started a new project to provide free and low-cost solar energy to homes across the province. This technology will help poor people of KP.

    Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur launched the project at a ceremony at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar. Many ministers, assembly members, government officials, and media representatives attended the event.

    Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched a solar system scheme for the poor and deserving people. People who are suffering from expensive electricity.KP launches Rs20bn solar project to provide 130,000 households with free energy. These including 30,000 in the merged districts. Furthermore, 65,000 will get free solar units, while another 65,000 can buy them at half price with an option to pay in easy installments.

    The government will complete the Rs20 billion project in two phases, benefiting 65,000 households in each phase. Moreover speaking at the event Chief Minister Gandapur said this initiative will help solve the country’s electricity crisis and frequent power cuts, providing relief to poor communities.

    He emphasized that the authorities conducted the selection process transparently through electronic balloting. In this priority will given to widows, transgender individuals, and other vulnerable groups. Furthermore, each district is receiving allocations based on its population share to ensure fair and clear distribution.

    The chief minister also stressed that the process remained free from political or external influence, moreover ensuring merit-based allocation.

    “With over 2.5 million applications, this overwhelming response reflects public trust in our system,” Gandapur said, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to governance and public welfare

    The selection process is conduct through an electronic ballot after receiving over 2.5 million online applications. This project aims to supply solar systems to 130,000 families, including 30,000 residences in the amalgamated districts.
    Out of these, 65,000 homes will receive free solar units, while another 65,000 will be able to purchase them at half price with the option of paying in easy installments.

    The total cost of the project is Rs 20 billion, and it will be completed in two phases. Firstly they will cover 65,000 households, and the second phase will cover the remaining 65,000.

    Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said the project was launched to help solve the country’s electricity crisis .     Punjab government has started registration for the Chief minister Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025.

    Furthermore, this program will give 110,000 new laptops to top-performing students in exams.

    The program also put aside 2,000 laptops for majority students. Moreover, It is for the students who have completed matric or intermediate education.

    The scheme also includes 2,000 laptops for minority students. It is open to students who have completed matric or intermediate education.

    How to Apply for the Chief Minister Laptop Scheme 2025?

    Who Can students Apply & How Laptops Will Be distributed

    The scheme will provide 110,000 latest-generation laptops. Furthermore, including Core i7 models, to students in different academic fields. BS secondary higher secondary students can apply. Furthermore, 2000 laptops are reserved for minority students. Student  must be a resident of Punjab.

    Laptop Distribution Plan

    1. 20,000 university students
    2. 14,000 college students
    3. 4,000 technical and agricultural college students
    4. 2,000 medical and dental students
    5. 32% of laptops will go to students from South Punjab

    Required Qualifications:

    • Students of 1st or 2nd semester of a BS program must study at a public university or college.
    • Public university/college students need at least 65% marks in intermediate.
    • Medical and dental students need at least 80% marks in intermediate.
    • Student must have a domicile from any district in Punjab.
    • Student must not have received a laptop from any previous government schemes.

    Laptop Distribution Timeline

    • Laptop distribution is expected to start after Ramadan 2025.
